April 3rd, 2014
From April 7th to April 11th, 2014 Northlake Woods students will be participating in our annual Five Days for Freedom campaign in support of Free the Children programs. In honour of Nelson Mandela, this year has been designated the Year of Education. To highlight the importance of education, Free the Children has committed to building 200 schools in developing communities around the world. We would like one of those schools to be a Northlake Woods school!
Earlier this year, a group of 100 Teachers each donated $100 for a total of $10,000 to build a school in Kenya. By reaching out to our networks, the teachers in our group were able to meet and even exceed the goal in just 8 short days. Now, I am challenging our school community to do something similar. If 200 families could each donate $20, we would be able to raise $4000 towards our goal. We’re hoping that our other fundraising activities will raise the rest. All donations of $20 or over are eligible for a tax receipt. If you would like to participate, please send in a cheque made out to Free the Children with your name and address information at the top.

Special Activities: Our annual Cake Raffle and Bake Sale will take place on Wed., April 9th. We’ll also be selling some crafts and raffling 10 Rafiki chains at our Marketplace on Thurs., April 10th.
Thank you everyone for your support!
