Library Forest of Reading Programs – Students Help Choose Winning Authors
Again this year, Northlake Woods is participating in the Ontario Library Association’s Forest of Reading Program. The OLA selects books written by Canadian authors and then students from across the province read these books and vote for their favourites.
Northlake Woods has three reading programs:
· Blue Spruce (JK – Gr 2) Participating classes read ten selected picture books in class and students vote for their favourites.
· Silver Birch (Gr 3 – 6) There are three categories: express, fiction, and non-fiction. Students are responsible for their own reading and must read at least five books in a category in order to vote.
· Red Maple (Gr 7 & 8) There are ten fiction selections and students must read at least five books in order to vote.
Interested students can pick up additional information in the library. Come on out and cast a vote for your favourite Canadian authors!
