Again this year, NLW’s Social Justice committee partnered with one of the junior classes to plan our annual Bake Sale and Cake Raffle. Mrs. Schneider’s Gr. 4/5 class took on the bake sale as a class project. They worked as a class on planning, organizing, promoting, and running the bake sale for all grades in our school. Families contributed bake sale items and on the day of the sale the whole class worked together during the event. They raised a total of $603.
Simultaneously, the Gr. 7/8 Social Justice committee, with the support on Mme. G., planned the Cake Raffle. They met during nutrition breaks to organize the raffle, write announcements, make posters, and cut out tickets. Volunteers signed up for shifts to sell tickets, help primary students fill out their tickets, supervise at the raffle, set up, and clean up. Some students even baked their own cakes! The raffle raised over $800!
In addition to the wonderful homemade baking, Eva in Gr. 2 sold jewellery. She made bracelets, necklaces, and keychains, advertised to the primary classes, made posters, and ran the sale on her own initiative. She raised $64 and even had the older students supporting her and buying her products.
Parents, students, and staff all contributed to making this day a huge success. Together, we raised $1481 in one day! Congratulations Timberwolves!
