Last Friday May 6th, the NLW grade eights went to Canada’s Wonderland to compete in the Wondercoaster competition in Toronto. There was over 50 elementary school coasters that attended, competing in Technical Merit, Artistic Design, and Most Exciting Ride categories. Northlake Woods managed to snatch a first place in Technical Merit, and a second place in Artistic Design.
Our first place winner in the Technical Merit category was “The Loner” by Chloe, James, Cooper and Tony. In an outer space adventure, the ride goes through a total of 8 loops, and earned a technical score of over 1 million! With this amazing score, “The Loner” managed to set a new record in the elementary division!
Our second place winner in the Artistic Design category was “A Tour Du Canada” by Sarah, Colby, Hannah and John. Inspired by the general theme of Canada’s Wonderland, and with the use of contrasting colours, fake snow, 3D animals and trees, the group succeeded in creating a realistic map of Canada.
Great job to all the grade eights!
