Call or email the school when your child will be late or absent

The safety and well-being of your child is an important concern for us, and making sure your child arrives to school safely is a responsibility we take very seriously. That is why all elementary schools have a Safe Arrival Program to ensure that each and every student arrives to school safely.

Parents and guardians have a responsibility to contact the school when a child will be late or absent. You now have two ways to contact the school to report your child’s absence or late arrival:

  1. Call Us – Our Attendance Line can be reached by calling 519-885-1115 dialing extension #1. Include your child’s name (and spelling), grade, class and reason for absence.

Or;

  1. Email us – You can send an email to nlw-attendance@wrdsb.ca and include the following information:
  • Subject Line: Student’s Name
  • Body of Email: Student’s name, grade, class, your name, and the reason for the absence.

Select the option that is most convenient for you. Both options are available 24/7.

Reminder: During severe weather conditions, you have the option to keep your child home from school. Please remember, you must still call the school to alert them of your child’s absence or if they will be arriving late.

Our staff, families and caregivers are partners in every student’s learning journey. We appreciate your support in ensuring that every student arrives safely to school.

February 28 is Pink Shirt Day

On Wednesday, February 28, join us in recognizing Pink Shirt Day. This is a day to stand up against bullying and raise funds to support programs that foster children’s healthy self-esteem. Wear pink to show your support.

About Pink Shirt Day: This movement was inspired by the actions of two high school students from Nova Scotia. In 2007, the students witnessed a Grade 9 boy being bullied for wearing a pink polo shirt on his first day of school. Bullies harassed the boy, called him a homosexual for wearing pink and threatened to beat him up. Disgusted with this treatment, the students went to a nearby discount store and bought 50 pink shirts. Then they went online to email classmates to get them on board with their anti-bullying cause that they dubbed a “sea of pink”. The next day not only were dozens of students outfitted with the discount tees, but hundreds of students showed up wearing their own pink clothes, some head-to-toe.

Pink Shirt Day has grown across the Canada as a way to symbolize that we as a society will not tolerate bullying.
