The skies were definitely filled with music on Monday, May 6 as Northlake Woods sang along with other schools across Canada on Music Monday. This year was a special year because Chris Hadfield, commander of the International Space Station, co-wrote the song and sang it in space along with all the children in Canada. Students in grades seven and eight helped to give leadership to all the students right down to our kindergarten classes. It was fabulous to see and hear the excitement build as we waited for 12:30 to arrive so that we could lend our voices to the chorus of singers. Although Music Monday is an annual event, this was truly a once in a life time moment as we sang with a famous Canadian in space.
